The NANI achieve its works and objectives through the followings:
- developing innovative, high quality, rights based services that attempts to address emerging needs and gaps indentified.
- Providing community support and intercultural programmes that assist people to attain their rights, true potential and building capacity for progress.
- Challenging inequality and prejudice through the promotion of evidence based solutions to conceived social problems within our communities.
NANI have also indentified strongly with collaborative works in our country Nigeria through works with states – Ogun, Imo, Ebonyi states in the areas of education and information communication technology, capacity building and exchange of knowledge between state legislators and key representatives with the Irish state at large, being negotiated currently.
WHAT WE DO:
NANI continues to represent the interests of its members and Nigerians at large in Ireland around issues that impact in their lived lives in Ireland, namely in immigration, economic and Social Issues:
Training and Development:
We provide training and development for groups and individuals including facilities enhancing training FREE of charge!
NANI provides intercultural education. Some of our clients are An Garda (Irish Police Force), businesses, Social welfare, HSE and many more. NANI undertakes projects in Nigeria through various projects and partnerships.
Employment and Relief of Poverty:
This projects through signposting, support and trainings to facilitate employability of Nigerians in Ireland.
NANI also in collaboration with Happy-Days Foundation (HDF) in Nigeria and states delivers anti poverty programmes back in Nigeria
Civic Participation:
Information provision and the promotion of civic participation is a key function of the organisation. Examples are Voter education and promotions of events that promotes active citizenship for maximum participation by Nigerians. Integration involves effective participation of people in the society that they are part of. NANI holds social events through which we celebrate diversity and our rich culture in Ireland through festivals, music, workshops and performances.
Working for people through platforms:
NANI seeks to exploit the selfish interests that make up the community interests and achieve common purpose. NANI have also worked for individual concerns such as bereavement, employment, personal and family issues etc.
NANI strives to sign post and provide information on developments in the Community and system i.e. grants, support mechanisms, training workshops, conferences and forums on relevant issues.
Networking, Representation and Advocacy:
This is major works NANI have been involved with since 2005. Some examples are – Irish Residency and Immigration Protection Bill (IRPB 2005), Intercultural strategies of – FAI, GAA, and An Garda inclusion of migrants (recruitment of Immigrants into the police and Public), appointment services etc
NANI encourages member groups to articulate and develop policies or programmes, which can be brought before the whole network for inputs and support for maximum impact. Through this means every group and members has the advantage of pursuing its own agenda and honing their visions better.
NANI is being asked for representations from agencies and government including on diverse issues impacting Nigerians in Ireland. The more we are the better for our community in various areas that our opinions are vitally needed.
NANI works closely with New Communities Partnership, Immigrant Council of Ireland, Irish Refugee Council, Refugee Information Services, Africa Centre, Cairde, Equality Authority, An Garda, Local authorities and most Nigerian organisations in Ireland.
NANI – NIGERIA Works:
Education:
ICT for Nigerians schools - over 200 custom built computers so far distributed to Nigerians schools in three states of: Ogun, Ebonyi and Imo states.
Anti Poverty:
Works with Happy-Days Foundation to facilitate micro financing and development of cooperatives. We also engage in capacity building and information for the vulnerable members of the community.
NANI is also seeking funds to support borehole projects in Nigeria through DCC and other agencies in Ireland and EU at large
Linking Diasporas for Development:
We continue to facilitate the diasporas engagement with states in Nigeria to facilitate their contributions of Social and human capital, and exchange of knowledge and experiences vitally needed for development in Nigeria
